Here’s a recipe for a spicy omelette:
1 small onion finely chopped.
1 small tomato finely chopped.
1 green chilli, finely chopped (adjust according to your spice preference)
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder
Salt to taste
2 tablespoons oil or butter
Fresh cilantro leaves, chopped (for garnish)
Your favourite Chilli sauce (Optional)
Crack the eggs into a mixing bowl and whisk them until well-beaten. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, black pepper powder, and salt. Mix well and set aside.
Heat oil or butter in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions, green chilli, and a pinch of salt. Sauté until the onions turn translucent and slightly golden.
Add the chopped tomatoes to the pan and cook until they soften and release their juices. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Pour the beaten egg mixture over the cooked onions and tomatoes. Allow it to spread evenly across the pan. Reduce the heat to low and let the omelette cook undisturbed for a minute or two.
Once the edges of the omelette start to set, use a spatula to gently lift and fold one side of the omelette onto the other, creating a half-moon shape.
Cook for another minute or until the omelette is fully cooked and the desired level of doneness is achieved. If you like your omelette runny in the centre, cook for a shorter time. For a fully cooked omelette, cook a bit longer.
Carefully transfer the spicy omelette onto a serving plate. Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro leaves.
Serve hot with bread, toast and Chilli sauces like Prices Spices Italian Stallion or Insane in the brain rice You can also enjoy it on its own as a filling and flavourful breakfast or brunch option.
Enjoy your spicy omelette.
