Here’s a recipe for classic Lasagne:

Ingredients:

9 lasagne sheets

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

500 grams ground beef

400 grams canned crushed tomatoes

200 grams tomato sauce

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

250 grams ricotta cheese

1 egg, beaten

200 grams grated mozzarella cheese

50 grams grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

Cook the lasagne sheets according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.

Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, stirring frequently, until browned and cooked through. Break up any clumps of meat with a wooden spoon as it cooks.

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, dried basil, and dried oregano. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer the sauce for about 15 minutes to allow the flavours to meld.

In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese and beaten egg. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Assemble the lasagne in a baking dish. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of the dish. Arrange three lasagne sheets on top, slightly overlapping. Spread a layer of the ricotta mixture over the lasagne sheets, followed by a layer of the meat sauce. Sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Repeat this layering process, ending with a layer of meat sauce and a generous sprinkling of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

Remove from the oven and let the lasagne rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired.

Slice and serve the lasagne hot, accompanied by a side salad or garlic bread. Spice it up using a Chilli sauce like Prices Spices Italian Stallion or any of our other handmade artisan Chilli sauces  sauces
